April is a 2010 graduate of Marquette University Law School. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from San Francisco State University in 2006. During law school April clerked for a large Wisconsin insurance company and for Justice Annette Ziegler of the Wisconsin Supreme Court. In addition, she participated in Marquette Law School Moot Court Association and competed in the National Environmental Moot Court competition.

April is currently a member of the Hispanic National Bar Association, the Wisconsin Bar Association and the Wisconsin Defense Counsel
